Prof. Grynkiewicz received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Chemistry Department of the University of Warsaw (1968) and his D.Sc. (habilitation) from the Institute of Organic Chemistry of Polish Academy of Sciences (IChO PAN, 1979). He became titular professor in chemistry (1992). Affiliated to IChO PAN from 1962 to 1982, he is employed by the Pharmaceutical Research Institute since 1984 (R&D Director in years 1992-1998). Scientific internships and visits: University College London (1968-1969); Southern Illinois University Carbondale (1980-1982), University of California Berkeley (1982-1984) and MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston, TX (1989-1991). He is co-author of over 110 original publications, ca. 37 review articles and book chapters, and over 60 patents and patent applications. Member of the Polish Chemical Society (Secretary of the PTCh Main Board in years 1985-1988), the Polish Pharmaceutical Society, the Societas Scientiarum Varsoviensis, and the Association of Polish Inventors. Co-organizer of the Multidisciplinary Conference on Drug Research (Chairman of Scientific Committee in years: 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012). Member of the Editorial Board of Acta Chromatographica (Akademiai Kiado); Guest Editor in Acta Poloniae Pharmaceutica - Drug Research and Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Awarded in competitions: Master of Technique and Polish Product of the Future. Honored by the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements in the development of science (Annual Award 2006). Honored with: Individual Polish Chemical Society Award (1974), Silver and Golden Honorable Award of National Federation of Technical Associations (2000, 2005), T. Sendzimir Memorial Medal (2000), S. Biniecki Memorial Medal (2006), Honorable Award for Contributions to Innovation awarded by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland (2005), Officer Cross of Merite de L´Invention at Eureka in Brussels (2009) and International Order of Merit of the Inventors - IOMI (2011).
